Our Projects
Switch Adapted Toys
We want to make play possible for all! Many children with disabilities do not have toys that they can play with due to their motor impairments. Since 2022, Inspire HI Project has been switch adapting toys so all kids can play!
What this means is that the toy is adapted so that it attaches to a switch, which is usually a large button. To activate the toy, the person with a disability needs only touch the button to have the joy of activating the toy all by themselves! The button can be activated by hand, finger, head, foot, knee, or leg!

Switch-Adapted Ride-On Toys
Inclusion in action!
For children with disabilities, these modified toys offer BIG benefits:
- Independence – power to go on their own
- Cognitive Growth – cause and effect learning
- Motor Skill Development – builds coordination and strength
- Social Connection – allows kids to join the fun with siblings and peers
Communication Boards
Inspire HI Project is excited to have worked with community partners to bring communication boards to Yuma! In April 2024, an interactive communication board was mounted at the Children’s Museum of Yuma County.
Patrons to the Museum can scan the QR code for an interactive experience where the phone or tablet displays the board with voice output. Categories beginning with a capital letter open another page, so people can get a glimpse of what it is like to use a communication device. Under the MUSEUM tab, there are informational videos on how to use a communication board.

NICU Care Bags for the Medically Complex
In February 2025, Inspire HI Project delivered NICU Care Bags to the Onvida Health Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. These bags are designed specifically for families whose children have diagnoses that result in complex medical needs. Each care bag includes essential resources as well as self-care items donated by community partners (SeneGence, Blue Streak Signs, and Liggett Electrical Services) to help caregivers navigate this new journey and to remind them that they are not alone.
